The specific aims of the Community Connections core are:
- To build and develop partnerships with community providers, grassroots initiatives, and community leaders and advocates that insure that all research initiatives developed through the Center are responsive to the expressed needs, concerns, and feedback from and produce direct benefit for the community.
- To inform Center scientists about Latino community needs and concerns, research priorities, and perspectives on nutritional health issues and to collect and report community feedback on Center initiatives.
- To develop community sensitive strategies and recommendations for community-based research, and develop models for translating dietary guidelines and other nutrition recommendations and research findings into effective, community based education and intervention programs.
- To insure the timely dissemination and accessible presentation of research findings and up-to-date information through diverse community venues.
- To promote science education in the focal areas of the Center’s research among Latino and other disparity students at all levels.
